Man gets out of prison and goes after former prison guard. Attacks him at carnival. What should happen?
Filed Under Law Enforcement Police | 14 Comments
I live in a peaceful small town but recently there has been a lot of chaos. One of our most respectable town members, we call him Boss Man, was a former prison guard.
About a month ago, an ex-con who calls himself Nailz, took out ads in the local paper that alleged he was abused by former prison guard (Boss Man) while in prison and also claimed to be innocent of his crimes.
Last weekend at the town carnival, after the arm wrestling competition, Nailz – dressed in orange prison garb (I’m sure bought outside prison) and hell-bent on revenge – charged and brutally attacked Boss Man, eventually using a nightstick to injure his one-time tormentor.
My question – shouldn’t the police have done something when Nailz was putting these ads in the paper? If they were proactive Boss Man would not have endured this beating.

While Sucre and Susan are talking, Lincoln calls to inform Susan of the escape. McGrady again requests that he be allowed to join the group, but Michael refuses. Michael tells the kid that it would be best for him to stay, but McGrady doesn’t understand. A truck almost drove over the spot where the group is digging. Luckily, it got stuck in the mud. Bellick is trying to convince Mahone to help him with his plans on capturing Michael & T-bag.
Michael asks Sucre to research on the power generator of Sona. Susan takes Sofia in her meeting with Lincoln . Lincoln calls Michael and asks him to give the phone to Whistler. Susan burns Sofia so that Whistler can hear her screams. She instructed him to follow her instructions lest Sofia will face the consequences. Lincoln asks Susan what is it with Whistler but she wouldn’t tell.
Susan also goes to Sona, tagging along Sofia and Lincoln. Whistler handed over only half of the coordinates. He tells her that he will only surrender the other half once he is certain that Michael, Lincoln, LJ and Sofia are safe. Susan gives him 24 hours to accomplish his task.
Sucre is about to leave Sona when a prison guard suddenly stopped him. He is told that there’s something wrong with his identification and that a warrant is already issued for his arrest.
Lincoln hijacks a bus for the escape. Lechero and T-Bag pull knives on Michael. They tell him that they are the ones on control. Michael lets them. The power is knocked out as planned, and everyone runs for the escape. Catch the next episode of Prison Break to discover who made the escape and who did not.

Stalag 17 (1953) – Billy Wilder
Filed Under Movies | Leave a Comment
When an escape attempt goes tragically wrong, leaving two American prisoners dead, a mole is suspected and suspicions turn towards Sefton. The thinking being that anyone that has as many privileges as he does must be trading something more important than cigarettes with the German guards. It also doesn’t help that he was taking bets on the failure of the escape attempt.
When smiling assassin, prison guard Sergeant Schulz (an amusing Sig Ruman) confiscates the prisoners’ illicit radio, suspicions of a traitor are cemented. The final straw comes when new arrival Lieutenant Dunbar (Don Taylor), a man that Sefton openly despises, whom has just regaled his new barracks mates with a tale of destroying a German ammunitions train, is arrested for said act. Sefton is summarily beaten, and vows to find the real culprit.
Adapted from Donald Bevan and Edmund Trzcinski’s tremendously successful Broadway play by Billy Wilder and Edwin Blum, Stalag 17 is riotously funny. Filmmaker Otto Preminger is hilariously straight-faced as the camp commandant von Scherbach, a man that has his boots put on to speak to a superior officer on the telephone, and walks around the camp grounds on a series of wooden planks laid by his subordinates. The duo of Shapiro (Harvey Lembeck) and Animal (Robert Strauss), obsessed with the Soviet women prisoners, illicit booze, mouse racing and Betty Grable are a wonderful double act.
But the film’s greatest strength is the character of Sefton. All too often, in a mainstream movie, when a character is shown in an unflattering light, he is later given an opportunity to redeem himself with some totally out of character selfless act of heroism. Thankfully, that is not the case here. Although Sefton is eventually redeemed, and does in fact become the hero, his actions are only ever motivated by self-preservation or material gain. He doesn’t grow. He doesn’t change. He is Sefton!

The Shawshank Redemption (DVD) Review
Filed Under Advertising | Leave a Comment
The Shawshank Redemption focuses on the life of Andy Dufresne (Robbins), a prominent banker convicted of murdering his wife and her lover. Sent to Shawshank prison in the summer of 1947, the inmates bet on which of the new arrivals will be the first to crack. Ellis “Red” Redding (Freeman), an institutional fixture and the man who can provide anything for a price, puts his money on Andy. But much to his surprise, Andy doesn’t make a sound…
Over time, Andy and Red develop a close friendship, and Red procures a small rock hammer for Andy. As the years go by, he procures other items as well, the most interesting being Rita Hayworth. Red acquires a poster of the screen siren for Andy, and business continues as usual in Shawshank. Along the way, Andy ingratiates himself with the notorious prison guard Byron Hadley (Clancy Brown) and Warden Samuel Norton (Bob Gunton). Putting his outside skills to good use, Andy provides tax advice and tax preparation services to guards not just at Shawshank, but other prisons as well.
Eventually, in exchange for a comprehensive prison library, he ends up running a massive money laundering operation for Norton leveraging prison labor in exchange for lucrative kickbacks. But all goes awry when Shawshank’s newest prisoner, a young punk named Tommy (Gil Bellows) comes forward with shocking information. Andy, who’s spent twenty years in Shawshank prison, might be innocent after all… The revelation ruins lives and destroys Andy’s prison sanctuary, but it’s Warden Norton and his associates who are ruined when the beautiful pin-up Raquel Welch reveals her hidden secret…
Directed by Frank Darabont, producer of such hit films as The Green Mile (1999) and The Majestic (2001), The Shawshank Redemption is a film of absolute breathtaking perfection that ranks near the top of most lists of the best films ever produced. Thomas Newman’s musical score, reused in countless films in the years since its release, blends together with brilliant casting, memorable screen performance, and masterful set design to create an unmatched and timeless epic. If you haven’t seen The Shawshank Redemption, you aren’t just missing out on a great film, but a great life experience as well. Do yourself a favor and see this movie…
